Summary of Marketing Services
Applicable to both Lite and Plus contractor options
Affordable and hyper-specialized expertise in a specific niche is hard to come by. Travel brands are always looking for a unique approach to standout and smaller companies looking to find their place are at an impasse with crowded product roadmaps, diminishing budgets, and complexities facing them in an ever-changing economic and sociopolitical landscape.
While Clay Knows Travel was originally started as a hobby and creative outlet, it now exists to help smaller travel brands with tighter budgets navigate the challenging landscape of brand growth and capturing demand.
Each client proposal is uniquely designed to align with their specific marketing and brand needs.
Here is a short-list of available service support Clay Knows Travel can provide:
In-depth brand, product, and customer data analysis to inform more advanced GTM strategies

ICP (ideal customer profile) assessment and creation
Cohort analysis and audience segmentation
Content strategy, editorial-style calendar creation, and distribution

Purchase path funnel clickthrough and abandonment analysis
Contractor Lite:
Fractional marketing services available on part-time hourly basis at $80 USD per hour starting at a minimum of 10-hours per week. ($800 per week, $3,200 per month average). Standard independent contractor agreement between client (the company) and Clay Knows Travel LLC. Month-to-month contract with mutual 30-day notice of termination. Mutual NDA (nondisclosure agreement) executed in tandem with contract agreement.
Contractor Plus:
For longer term partnerships, fractional marketing services are available on monthly retainer starting at $5,000 per month. While the mutual 30-day notice of termination applies, it's recommended to develop pre-determined quarterly SOWs to have Clay Knows Travel LLC as an extension of your marketing team focused on sustained and long-term brand growth.
Best option for the most flexibility:
Start out with Contractor Lite (month-to-month, hourly rate) and build up to Contractor Plus (fixed monthly retainer). Contractor agreements can be updated with ease. But also, sometimes things don't work out according to plan and its best to give both parties flexibility to make the right decisions.
Applicable to One-Off Projects option
In addition to part-time marketing support services laid out in an independent contractor agreement, Clay Knows Travel also provides one-time project services contracted (between the company and Clay Knows Travel LLC) within an agreed upon project SOW and Master Services Agreement.
The minimum (project) contract length is 3-months with a maximum of 6-months and flexibility towards the end of each project to extend or renew for another fixed period of time.
The total project cost is contingent on the requirements set forth within the SOW but can range from $15,000 up to $50,000 depending on number of months and level of work involved.
The services outlined below are the same as above but can be packaged up and tailored to a specific SOW for a fixed period of time. Other service options are available upon request during an initial discovery conversation.

One-time project SOW and cost example:
A travel brand wants to engage Clay Knows Travel for a one-off, 6-month project. Specifically, the travel brand wants Clay Knows Travel to create a new framework for its brand and product(s) messaging and positioning to activate as part of a larger GTM (go-to-market) reactivation. To follow that, the travel brand also wants to leverage this new content within the website, sales enablement materials, and communications.
The project is broken out into two sprints: brand/product messaging and positioning ideation and creation and content asset creation to push live in the market. Clay Knows Travel and the travel brand agree on a (more detailed) SOW separated into two, three month sprints with a definitive start and end date.
They agree on a total project cost of $50,000 split into three equal payments of $16,666 with the first being due upon signing, the second due after month 3 (completion of sprint 1), and the third due on month 6 at the completion of the project. If this sounds up your ally, let's discuss in more detail. Click below to get started.
their words, not mine
Clay was the best marketing hire I ever made.
I don't know exactly what he does or how he does it, I just know whatever it is he's really, really good at it.
We love the creativeness, innovative thinking, responsiveness, and professionalism brought to the partnership.
info you should know
How long has Clay worked in travel marketing?
Clay started his travel marketing career in April 2015 as a digital analyst for Carmel, Indiana-based Seven Corners. Fast forward to February 2020, he became Vice President of Marketing and E-commerce at WorldTrips, a Tokio Marine Group Company. Most recently, he served as Head of Global Marketing for battleface and Robin Assist and continues contract with both companies.
What is Clay Knows Travel?
Clay Knows Travel was originally started in November 2024 as side project and creative outlet. As of May 2025, its officially in business as a soloprenurship led by travel marketing industry expert, Clay Coomer. After spending nearly 10 years serving in multiple full-time employment roles for three different travel brands, Clay is now building a portfolio career working with several travel companies asynchronously in a fractional capacity for each.
What services does Clay Knows Travel provide?
While the list could be long, Clay is narrowing the focus to work with travel brands to provide his in-depth marketing and brand expertise to smaller sized companies looking to build out a more robust and efficient DTC book of business. He is helping brands address specific needs around brand and product positioning, strategic messaging and content creation, website cleanup and optimization, e-commerce purchase path design, UX and UI, paid media strategy, audience segmentation analysis, and ideal customer profile ideation and creation.
How much of what Clay does is AI-dependent?
AI is making marketers wildly more efficient and helping speed along the creative process by leaps and bounds. Clay leverages AI in his day-to-day by helping him automate more time intensive and tedious tasks, break down data and analysis more efficiently with visual aides, and first drafts for content creation inspiration on an as needed basis.
What are a few pain points Clay is solving for that most travel brands are facing?
Smaller travel brands who compete against massive organizations are at a disadvantage. And most have to get incredibly creative to stand out and get noticed. It's not easy to do, but it is definitely possible. Clay helps travel brands identify specific characteristics that make them unique and crafts messaging and positioning concepts to communicate and distribute to build brand awareness to capture demand from market segments with the highest probability of conversion. At the end of the day, travel brands want to acquire new customers efficiently and retain them as a customer for life. Clay can support to help you achieve this.
How much does it cost to partner with Clay Knows Travel?
Much less compared to the cost of hiring a full-time employee and the cost to partner with an agency. Both options should be considered, because it is a big decision on who to work with when building a sustainable brand in the travel industry. Partnering with Clay will afford you (pun intended) the option of flexibility and highly specialized expertise for areas critical to the growth of your DTC channel. Pricing options vary based on specific needs, RE: flexibility. Clay's standard independent contractor agreement starts at 10-hours per week and $80 per hour on a month-to-month basis. Fixed monthly retainers and one-off project based Master Services Agreements are also available. Each agreement will come with a tailored SOW (Scope of Work) and supplemental mutual NDA (Nondisclosure Agreement) for confidentiality.
